Just a reminder to parents and carers that we are a NUT FREE SCHOOL.
We have a student at the school that is highly alergic to Nuts.
We appreciate your continued support in keeping our school NUT FREE!!
Gumnuts celebrated Book Week with a dress up day and creating some curious creatures. Sessions on site are still available by booking at the office. Sessions off site don’t require booking, and we are able to be all together.
Our next session is at the Huonville Library, followed by a play at the Huonville park on the Esplanade. We will meet at Huon LINC at 9:15, please bring a hat, lunchbox and a drink.
kinder enjoyed their first book week dress up parade. They all looked awesome and some amazing costumes.
This week in Prep we have started exploring multiplication by creating arrays. After introducing them to the x symbol for ‘groups of’ they got busy using whatever they could find to create 2 groups of 6 (2x6) and 3 groups of 4 (3x4).
Here are some of their very first attempts at creating arrays!
Welcome back for Term 4, we are almost there!
So far in term 4 our class has enjoyed celebrating Book Week with some fun dress ups! Our students and families did an amazing job of creating costumes, and the children were very proud.
We have also begun buddies in Term 4 with new buddies. We shared our costumes and books with our buddies on Wednesday.
This term we will be focussing on wrapping up our Inquiry. We will continue our spelling inquiries, using words that are connected to our inquiry. Our writing focus is currently creating information reports, and in maths we are exploring multiplicative thinking and sharing.
Term 4 started off with the completion of our Inquiry about animal defences. We finished off our Modwrap sculptures and continued presenting the last of our factual description presentations to the class. We are continuing to develop our research skills and vocabulary repertoire by listening to informative videos, picking out the main idea, recording key words into an Alphachart and then discussing and finding out their meanings and correct spellings in small groups using dictionaries and the internet. We then worked together to construct a summary of the topic to show our understanding. We have also started to explore shapes and compare and contrast the difference between 3D and 2D shapes. We enjoyed participating in the Book Week event, reading the shortlisted books, dressing up as a book character and showing what we know about adjectives to describe our characters. We also discussed and drew our character with our Prep buddies.
The Franklin Primary School Parent Association Inc are grateful for the support of families for Crazy Hair Day, where we raised $215.50 to go towards the new kindergarten playground!
