Dear Franklin Primary School Community,
As we bring 2024 to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the achievements and efforts of everyone who has contributed to making this year a success. To our incredible staff, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and passion for educating and nurturing our students. To our students, your enthusiasm, growth, and resilience continue to inspire us every day. To our parents, carers, and the broader community, your unwavering support and involvement in our school’s journey are deeply appreciated.
Looking ahead to 2025, we recognize that change is a part of growth. While there may still be some adjustments to staffing before the new year begins, I am delighted to officially welcome Mr. Tom Davidson to Franklin Primary School. Mr. Davidson will be teaching our Year 1/2 class on Fridays, and I know he will be a wonderful addition to our team.
At the same time, we bid a heartfelt farewell to several valued staff members. Ellen Wood, Grace Watson, Alice Morgan, and Kathryn Wood will be moving on to new opportunities. Their contributions to Franklin have been significant, and they will be greatly missed. We wish them every success in their future endeavours.
A reminder that the school will be open for uniform sales and communication during the week before students return, starting Monday, 27 January. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out during this time.
Thank you once again for a fantastic year. I look forward to seeing you all in 2025 and continuing to work together to create a positive and enriching environment for our students.
Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season.
Warm regards,
James Milne, Principal Franklin Primary School
Dear Families,
2024 has been another year of growth and rich learning opportunities for students at Franklin Primary School. With our focus on Reading, we are seeing very pleasing results across the board and will continue to work hard in 2025 to ensure that students receive the best possible reading instruction to develop their knowledge and skills even further.
To do this, we will continue our focus on explicit Reading instruction, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for Reading, and ensure that every child receives the required curriculum, pedagogy and assessment practices that they need.
Thank you again for your support this year, and I hope that all members of our school community have a relaxing and enjoyable break over summer.
See you in 2025.
Warm regards,
Nick de Tarczynski
FRANKLIN PRIMARY SCHOOL ASSOCIATION UPDATE
And just like that 2025 school year is just days away from ending! I would like to express my thanks to the Executive Committee, Immi Mitchell, Amanda Lovell, Heidi van der Reest, and the general members of Ben Rainer, Jenny Magno, Alex Frusher and Kylie McFarlane. who have worked assiduously for the Association over the last year and without them the Association would fall over. Further a huge thankyou to Ella, Leanne and Jenny for their support with the association.
I would also like to pass on thanks from the Association to the parents and friends who have helped out at events that have been held over the term and also, throughout the year. Without the Association and volunteers, the events that the parents and students have come to enjoy and look forward too are not possible.
Below is an update on the things the Association has been doing in front of and behind the scenes.
If you think of something that the school or students need, have an idea or suggestion, no matter how big or small, please reach out to myself or another committee member and it can be raised at the next meeting. Because at the end of the day it is your ideas that make the difference.
AGM
The Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 17th March 2025 at 3pm. All positions on the Committee are open for election. Nomination forms will be sent home in February 2024.
Join the Franklin Primary School Association in 2024!!
Would you like to connect with other parents and school staff to identify opportunities for improvement at FPS? Do you like assisting with fundraising events? Interested in reviewing policies and making a positive impact in your child’s school?
Everyone knows what an amazing job the Association and volunteers do for our school, but the reality is without them the things like BBQs, disco, fundraising would just not happen.
The Association desperately needs more people to join the team. All parents of students of the school are automatically members of the Association, however we need people to actually attend meetings and volunteer for the events.
Meetings are held on average every 6 weeks and you can bring your children along. Please have a think about how you can make a difference by simply volunteering a few hours of your time, trust me the children will thank you for it.
Message our page, drop your details into the school office or the Chair Jess Watson by email with your email address and we will be in touch in early 2025!

THANKYOU
Finally, on a personal note I would like to advise that I will be stepping down from the role as Chair and as a committee member. I have felt privileged to have held the role and been an active member of the committee for the past few years. My role has been made easy with the support from the committee members, parents and school community.
Thanks, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful and safe Christmas and New Year holiday and a fantastic 2025.
