Principal's Report

Dear Franklin families

It’s been a great start to the year. There is a very positive and happy atmosphere around the school and students are clearly pleased to be back. The first few weeks of any school year is an exciting time and a great opportunity to continue the positive attitudes to learning that have been established in previous years. It is also a great time to socialise again and to reconnect with the school community after the summer break.

A successful start to the school year only occurs as a result of the hard work of the school’s administrative team, cleaning and grounds staff and of course those who work most closely with the students, the teachers and teacher assistants. As a result of this hard work it has been a pleasure to return to such an organised, well maintained and welcoming school environment. I would also like to acknowledge teaching staff who were busy during their holiday break ensuring that they were well organised and planned for the 2020 school year.

On behalf of the school community I would like to welcome the following staff:

  • Rebecca McCullum and Rebecca Witt who will be teaching the Year 1/2 class.
  • Neil Holmstrom who will be teaching the Year 5/6
  • Cynthia Howard who will be leading the music program.

Building Work

After a long wait and numerous meetings with architects and project managers, it is very exciting to see the first excavations for our new classrooms begin. The trucks and earth moving equipment have certainly captivated student’s attention at break times. The construction is being completed by Maverick Builders who are working closely with IDW Architecture + Interiors. Once the two upper primary classrooms are finished, work will begin on developing the new kinder room.

Hats in the Playground

Just a reminder that all students are expected to wear Sunsafe hats in the playground.

The Bucket hat or Legionnaires style hat must be worn from September to April, as per the school Sun Smart Policy. This policy is supported by the Cancer Council recommendations. Please note caps and beanies do not meet Sun Smart requirements.

I would like to wish everyone a positive, happy and productive school year.
