PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
Dear Franklin Families,
As I mentioned in the last newsletter this term has provided teachers with different opportunities to engage in professional learning. Our early years teachers recently joined an online professional learning seminar delivered by Kath Murdoch. Kath Murdoch is an experienced author, university lecturer and education consultant who has worked with teachers all over the world with a particular focus on Inquiry based learning. Previously this type of professional learning would have been delivered from a venue requiring all interested educators to attend in person. In these COVID 19 times schools are increasingly benefiting from the delivery of high quality professional learning straight to the school, providing increased opportunity for groups of teachers to collaborate with their colleagues. Teachers are now continuing their commitment to improve their practice and knowledge of Inquiry based learning by working with Tasmanian education consultant David Gilkes.
Book Week
Book Week is now the week of October 17 - 23. This is the second week back of Term 4 and it is also Show Day week. This year’s theme is ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. Student activities will be held to celebrate the importance of reading.
Ooshies
We have a staff member who has a severe allergic reaction to the plastic materials ooshies are made from. Therefore to minimise any risks, I ask that students do not bring ooshies to school.
Staff would like to wish the school community a safe and restful holiday break. We look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4.
