YEAR 1-2
1/2 M have been building our learning asset of being researchers. We discussed at length how we could find an answer to our Inquiry question, ‘What makes a great community?’. We collaborated to construct some interview questions, making sure they were suitable for getting the information we are looking for. We then set about interviewing our peers, school staff, friends and families to answer our question. We have already noticed some common ideas and opinions. If you would like to answer some of our interview questions to assist us, please email Ms Bec at rebecca.mccallum@education.tas.gov.au.
Now that we have finished looking at the long /a/ sound, our current spelling investigations have been around the long /e/ sound, and the different ways we can represent that sound. We are getting very good at noticing this sound, recording words, identifying the sound within the word and then sorting our words into categories. During our writing time, some of us have been working on structuring a factual description. This includes using a title, introduction, characteristics and a summary. We have begun practising this skill by re-writing a factual description of a Wolf Spider.
