In Art we have been learning about the history of silk production. First we discussed and re-enacted the drama around the discovery of silk in Ancient China, its monopoly on silk trade for many centuries and the eventual espionage that led to its secret being spread into Europe. We then worked together to create our own silk painting, using salt on the wet silk to produce amazing patterns and effects.
