PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Franklin Families,

The start of Term 3 has been very settled and I would like to take this opportunity to welcome students, staff and parents back to school.

Unfortunately, we have returned to school with a need to be increasingly vigilant due to COVID-19 outbreaks in other states.  In recent days information has been provided to all members of the school community regarding families and staff who have travelled to both Victoria and South Australia during the school holidays.  Thank you everyone for complying with the advice provided via the school’s Facebook page and parent information sent home. As the situation can change rapidly, I would ask that everyone continues to check these school communications for updates.

I also need to acknowledge the continued support and consideration that all families have given the school during the past 18 months of the pandemic.  In particular by following the regular Public Health and Department of Education advice regarding whether a student should attend school if they have flu-like symptoms or any other symptoms of infectious diseases such as fever, runny nose, cough, sore/itchy throat, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting.

It is most important that students are not sent to school if they have any of these symptoms, nor should they return to school until cold/flu like symptoms have passed.

For further information on the management of COVID in schools please follow this link: A4 Infosheet - Template - DoE - Support and Development (education.tas.gov.au)

I would like to take this opportunity to let our school community know of some staffing changes. Cynthia Howard has a new role as primary teacher at Tasman District School. Cynthia has been a wonderful ambassador for music programs in schools and we wish her the very best. We welcome Kirsty Whittaker as music teacher for the remainder of this year. Our thanks also go to Pam Monk who has agreed to lead the school choir to ensure students can continue to enjoy this program. Our Year 1 teaching team this term will be Rebecca Witts and Bridgette Davies. Both teachers bring valuable experience, skills and knowledge to their roles.

Have a great week
