YEAR 2-3 - YELLOW
In 2/3W we are continuing to inquire “How are we connected to space?” At the end of last term we completed our space models, which meant we could make a model of the solar system, along with a black hole, a radio astronomy tower, a cats eye nebula and a rocket.
Our classroom was updated over the holidays and we were given two huge pinboards for our displays. These have been fantastic for displaying our inquiry journey. We have been watching the Blue Origin spaceship which Jeff Bezos built, and took three others on a journey to space and back with him. Some of us thought it was a waste of money for such a short trip, but others thought it would have been a great experience. We have thought about the internet, and how we can access it. Satellites in space assist with this. Satellites also help us with research, imaging of space and earth and monitoring weather. We have been writing procedures and discovered how important it is to add specific details. Making a sandwich was not as simple as we first thought! We have been making 3D shapes, learning how to describe them, and identify them.
For National Tree Day today we joined with our Prep buddies and completed a tree scavenger hunt. We had to match leaves, flowers, seeds and bark to find the right tree around the school.
