YEAR 4-5
We started the term with a fabulous visit to Fat Pig Farm where we met the animals, explored the garden, planted a lettuce patch and made worm farms for their gardens.
Earlier this week we had a visit from St John Ambulance and participated in their first aid course for school students. We practised checking for danger, response, breathing and sending for help.
Our inquiry is well underway, and our question is “Why do materials matter?” Student have been examining the properties of materials, comparing processed synthetic and natural materials, considering the best materials for certain purposes, and reflecting on the environmental impact of the materials we choose to use.
In English we have been focusing on spelling, reading and comprehension, and in maths students have been working on measurement and calculating area and perimeter.
This term we have buddied up with the Kinder class. We have had a lot of fun with them so far and we look forward to supporting them in transitioning to the big school playground this term.
A huge congratulations to everyone for giving their best at the school athletics carnival. I’m so proud of you all for getting involved.
