YEAR 5-6
5/6 have had a very busy start to Term 4. Our inquiry focus this term is centred around understanding Tasmania’s social and cultural history through an investigation of colonialism and its impact on both the settlers and the Tasmanian Aboriginal people. We have been studying some of the pivotal historical events and figures in Tasmania’s colonial history as well as some of the engagements between Europeans and Tasmania’s Indigenous people. An early and friendly meeting between Captain Cook and some Nuenonne people occurred at Resolution Bay on Bruny island in 1777. After considering artworks and recounts of this meeting, the class collaborated to create a magnificent 3D model to represent this significant event.
In maths we are honing our skills around measurement and have been particularly working with area and perimeter so far this term.
After a wet few days, the sun came out for our Sports Carnival on Tuesday. It was a fantastic day with a terrific range of athletic and novelty events and some outstanding participation.
